Playing Office at the Beach

Lady Working at the Beach

Last week, a fitness ghost must have gotten into me – I walked 5 miles to Gillson Park in Wilmette and back! I disguised the really long walk as a picnic in my head, bought my favorite sandwich and lemonade, packed my current read and beach towel and made an afternoon of it. May be it’s the effect that a shockingly warm March has on Chicago, Gillson Park was filled with children running about the beach, or cycling and swinging in the park, adults barefoot on the sand holding hands; it was beautiful.

Totally oblivious to people around her, one lady sat right in the middle of the beach working! She had her files, books and other stuff scattered around her. She was deeply immersed in whatever she was working on and made quite the picture. From my vantage point under a few still-leafless trees, I couldn’t help but snap her picture. Now, who would not want her life – after all, her office is a beach!
